An Out-of-Towner's Point of View on Solomons Island Posted in Southern Maryland Weekend Edition, August 28, 2009
Dickson Mercer does a "A Walk Through [of] Solomons Island." Is he impressed? We'd like to think so. Mercer literally walks and describes each business he comes across on the island. His final stop is the Tiki Bar where he admits the atmosphere of the place makes "you want to stay awhile--'maybe [even] run the board.'" We may have scared him off though with our local musician, Ben Connelly, singing in the background, "Tiki Bar Blues," which might have given him the clue "that one [mai tai or one of our other specialty drinks] is more than enough." I guess it takes some "tiki" experience to ascend up the mai tai ladder!
